Adding locations
Updated August 24, 2026
There are three ways to get a location into Pluspoint. Search for it on Google and let Pluspoint fill in the details, type the details yourself, or import the listings you already manage in your Google Business Profile account. This article covers all three, plus creating a brand-new Google listing from a Pluspoint location and verifying it.
Before you start
- Adding locations requires Locations: full access on a team with Global scope. Users on a scoped team can edit their locations but cannot create new ones.
- You need spare capacity on your subscription’s location limit.
- Import from Google requires an account-level Google integration with Business Profile access — set it up at Settings → Integrations first. See Google Business Profile.
- Searching Google inside Add location manually does not require a connected Google account; it reads public Google Places data.
Where to find it
Locations → Manage locations, or go to https://app.pluspoint.io/locations/manage.
Choosing a method
| Method | Best for | Creates a Google connection? |
|---|---|---|
| Add location manually → Find on Google | A single location that already exists on Google Maps | No — it copies public Google data into Pluspoint |
| Add location manually → Enter manually | A location that is not on Google, or one you want to control field by field | No |
| Import from Google | Bringing in the listings you already manage in Google Business Profile | Yes — each imported location is connected to its listing in the same step |
| Import (CSV) | Creating many locations at once from a spreadsheet | No. See Bulk editing and CSV import |
Adding one location by searching Google
- Select the ▼ arrow next to the add button and choose Add location manually.
- Leave the mode set to Find on Google.
- Start typing the business name in Google Location Name and pick the right result. The search returns businesses only.
- Select Add location.
Pluspoint fills in what Google publishes: name, status, phone, website, address, coordinates, time zone and business hours.
If one of your brands is set to automatically assign itself to new locations, the new location joins it.
The new location’s edit form opens straight away. Fill in the parts Google does not provide: categories, descriptions, services, images and social links.
Adding one location by hand
- Select the ▼ arrow next to the add button and choose Add location manually.
- Switch the mode to Enter manually.
- Fill in the fields below and select Add location.
Note Switching between Find on Google and Enter manually clears whatever you typed in the other mode. Pick your mode before you start typing.
| Field | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Internal name | Yes | The Pluspoint-only label shown in the locations list and in every location picker |
| Location name | Yes | The public business name |
| Type | Yes | Which options appear depends on your account industry and country |
| Primary category | Yes | A Google category search — type at least two characters |
| Country | Yes | |
| Primary phone | Yes | International format |
| Show business address to customers | — | On by default. Turning it off hides the address fields, and stops Address line 1, City and Postal code being required |
| Address line 1 | Yes, when the address is shown | |
| City | Yes, when the address is shown | |
| State | No | |
| Postal code | Yes, when the address is shown |
Drag the map pin to set the location’s coordinates precisely; the time zone is derived from them.
Once created, the location opens in the full edit form. Everything else — hours, descriptions, categories beyond the primary one, services, images, social links and platform connections — is set there. See Managing locations.
Importing your Google Business Profile listings
This brings across the listings you already manage in Google and connects each one to its new Pluspoint location in a single step.
- Select Import from Google on the split button.
- Listings are grouped by Google account, so if you have several Google accounts connected, expand the one you want.
- Tick the listings to import.
- Select Import N location(s).
A large batch takes a little while — leave the drawer open until the import finishes.
Selection is capped at the number of locations left on your plan. Once you hit the cap, further checkboxes stop responding — that is the quota, not a bug.
Imported N locations, skipped M means the skipped listings were already attached to another Pluspoint location. A listing that fails mid-import is rolled back — nothing partial is left behind.
After the import, each location’s media, attributes and categories are back-filled in the background.
Creating a new Google Business Profile listing
If a location exists in Pluspoint but not on Google, you can create the Google listing from the location’s data instead of building it in Google’s own tools.
- Open the location from Manage locations.
- Fill in every required field on the form first — the option is disabled until the form is complete.
- Scroll to Integrations and open the ⋮ menu on the Google row.
- Select Create New Profile.
- The Create profile on Google dialog asks for the Google account and the Location group when your account has more than one of either.
If Google has not confirmed that you own the business, the Google row shows Unverified and offers Verify — see the next section.
Verifying a Google listing
A location whose Google row shows Unverified has a listing Google has not yet confirmed you own. Until it is verified, Google will not accept most edits.
- Open the location and go to Integrations.
- Open the ⋮ menu on the Google row and select Verify.
- Choose an option under Select verification method. Which options Google offers depends on the business.
- Complete the check Google asks for, then enter the PIN you receive to finish.
Location quota
Your plan sets how many locations the account can hold. When you are at or over the limit — or the subscription has expired — you cannot add locations until you raise it. Only users with full Account settings access can change the plan.
To raise the limit, go to Settings → Billing and select Change plan. See Billing and plans.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| There is no add button on the page | You do not have Locations: full, or your team scope is not Global | Ask an account owner to widen your access. See Users and permissions |
| Import from Google is greyed out in the menu | No account-level Google integration is connected | Connect Google at Settings → Integrations |
| Checkboxes in the import drawer stop responding | You have selected as many listings as your remaining quota allows | Import in batches, or raise your limit first |
| A listing in the drawer is disabled with a location name next to it | It is already connected to another Pluspoint location | Disconnect it from that location first, or edit that location instead |
| Add location stays disabled in Find on Google mode | No place has been picked from the suggestions | Type at least part of the business name and select a suggestion rather than typing free text |
| The category search returns nothing | Fewer than two characters typed | Type at least two characters and pause for a second |
| Couldn’t import with an error code | The Google request failed for that listing | The half-created location has already been removed — retry the import for the affected listings |
| Create New Profile is greyed out | The location form still has required fields empty, or Google is not connected at account level | Complete the required fields, or connect Google at Settings → Integrations |
| Upgrade your subscription to use this feature when you submit | The account is at its location quota, so the server refuses the create | Raise the limit under Settings → Billing, then add the location |
