Resolving profile conflicts

Updated October 2, 2026

A profile shows the Conflict chip when a field in Pluspoint differs from the same field on the connected Google or Facebook listing. It might be a changed phone number, different opening hours, or an address that was edited on one side only. The conflict resolver lists every differing field side by side, so you can decide field by field which value is correct.

Address is one field covering the street lines, city, state and postal code. The map pin is not part of the field: it follows your Google listing.

Before you start

  • You need full Locations access (locations:full) on the location whose profile you are resolving. See Users and permissions.
  • The Google profile must be verified. If the row menu offers Verify instead of Resolve conflicts, verify it first — see Verify a Google profile below.
  • Only Google and Facebook rows can be resolved. Directory rows are fixed by publishing the location, not by choosing values. See Local Directories.

Where to find it

Locations → Profiles (https://app.pluspoint.io/locations/profiles) → the ⋮ menu on a row → Resolve conflicts.

Resolve a conflict

  1. Go to Locations → Profiles.
  2. Select Filters, set Status to Conflict and select Apply filters. You can also open the page pre-filtered with https://app.pluspoint.io/locations/profiles?view=[2].
  3. Open the ⋮ menu at the right end of the row and select Resolve conflicts.
  4. In the Resolve conflicts window, work down the list and pick an option for the fields you want to settle. A field you leave unanswered stays a conflict.
  5. Select Save.

Save is enabled once you have changed at least one field. Only fields that actually differ are listed.

The three choices per field

OptionEffect
Use Pluspoint valueUpdates the listing with your Pluspoint value
Use Google value (or Use Facebook value)Copies the platform’s value into the Pluspoint location
IgnoreLeaves both sides as they are and stops this field counting as a conflict on this platform, even if either side changes again

Some fields offer fewer options:

  • Status (open or closed) offers only the platform value or Ignore — it can only be changed on the platform.
  • On a Facebook profile, Address offers only the Pluspoint value or Ignore — Facebook’s address is never copied into Pluspoint.
  • Fields the platform refuses to accept from Pluspoint lose the Use Pluspoint value option, and a hint explains why.
  • On a Google profile, the Facebook and Instagram link rows hide the Use Google value option when the location already has a connected Facebook profile.
  • On a listing Google classifies as lodging — a hotel, motel or inn — Google does not allow the business description to be edited, so the resolver does not offer a Description row for it. Your Pluspoint description is still used on web pages and directory listings.

On a Google profile, the Located in parent business (set in the location’s Address section) gets a row of its own and is resolved with the Pluspoint or the Google value. See Managing locations.

Choosing Ignore is remembered for that field on that platform: it stays out of the conflict count and your edits to it no longer reach that platform, even after the values change again. While an ignored field differs, the row reports Synced with the Details column noting how many fields are ignored, and the field stays listed in the resolver preset to Ignore. To start managing a field again, pick a value for it in the resolver, or open Manage Profile on the location’s connection row and remove it from the ignored fields there. The same list lets you ignore a field before it ever conflicts. A field you stop ignoring that currently differs shows as a conflict right away. See Managing locations.

What happens after you save

Values you took from the platform are applied to the location right away. Values you kept from Pluspoint are sent to the listing: the row shows In progress until the listing reflects them, usually within minutes, and then Synced. If the platform does not accept a value, the row returns to Conflict with an explanation on that field.

Changes made on Google

Google reviews some edits before publishing them, usually for a few minutes and occasionally for days. While your edit is in review, the field does not show as a conflict. If Google does not publish it, the field becomes a conflict and you choose again.

Google also updates listings by itself, for example from public suggestions. Such a change shows up as a conflict like any other, and nothing changes on either side until you choose: Use Pluspoint value puts your value back on Google, and Use Google value keeps Google’s.

When Google refuses a value

Google can refuse a value. The reason is shown above the choices the next time you open the resolver.

HintWhat it meansWhat to do
”Google doesn’t allow updating this field from Pluspoint. Update it in Google directly or use the Google value.”Google does not take this field from Pluspoint, for example the map pinChange it in Google Business Profile, or pick the Google value
”Google doesn’t allow links in the business description. Remove the link to sync it.”The description contains a linkEdit the description on the location, remove the link, then resolve again
”Google decides whether an address is shown on the listing. Apply the Google value or ignore this field.”One side shows an address and the other does not, and only Google decides whether a listing shows onePick the Google value, or change what the listing shows in Google Business Profile itself
”Business status can’t be pushed to Google from Pluspoint. Apply the Google value or ignore this field.”Open or closed can only be changed on Google.Pick the Google value, or ignore the field
”Google rejected this value (…). Fix it in Pluspoint and resolve again.”Google refused the value for another reason, listed in bracketsCorrect the value on the location and resolve the conflict again

If Google has already permanently refused a field, choosing Use Pluspoint value for it fails straight away. The error explains that the field cannot be updated from Pluspoint.

Some Google rejections can only be cleared in Google Business Profile itself — for example when Google requires the map pin to be placed manually. In those cases, open the listing on Google and make the change there. Then either resolve the field with the Google value, or run Start sync so Pluspoint picks up the corrected data.

Verify a Google profile

An unverified Google profile cannot be managed from Pluspoint, so its row shows Not verified and its menu offers Verify rather than Resolve conflicts.

  1. Open the ⋮ menu on the row and select Verify.
  2. In Verify Google Business Profile, under Select verification method, pick one of the methods Google offers for that listing and select Continue.
  3. For Phone call, SMS and Email, type the code Google sends into Verification code and select Verify.

Google decides which methods are offered for a given listing, so you may see only some of them. Postcard (mail), Instant verification and Automatic verification have no code step in Pluspoint — Google handles the check on its side. Verify on Google Business is always offered; it opens Google Business Profile in a new tab so you can finish verification there.

Once the profile is verified, its row moves out of Not verified and Resolve conflicts becomes available.
