How QR code conversion is measured
Updated August 24, 2026
QR performance lives on Surveys → Analytics → Conversion, in a table titled QR codes. It follows scans through four stages: Opened surveys, Responses received, Proceeded to review sites and Reviews received. The stage that genuinely measures a QR code is Proceeded to review sites, because review platforms never disclose where a review came from.
Before you start
- You need access to Surveys: the account owner, or a member of a team with Surveys set to Restricted or Full.
- The Analytics tabs are part of the full Surveys feature set. On a QR-only plan the sidebar shows QR Codes alone, and the Responses and Analytics pages redirect away.
- Numbers only appear for survey templates whose QR code or URL people have actually opened.
Where to find it
Surveys → Analytics → Conversion, or go to https://app.pluspoint.io/surveys/analytics/conversion.
Set the scope first
- Select Filters.
- Choose the Locations and the Surveys (templates) you care about.
- Set the Timeframe and Group by, then apply.
Read the QR codes table
- The table above QR codes, Survey invitations, covers surveys you sent by message or email instead.
- Expand a location row to break it down by survey template.
- The small arrow next to a value marks the change against the previous period of the same length.
- Read the percentage beside each later stage as a share of Opened surveys, not of the stage before it.
- Use the table’s own export button for a CSV or Excel copy.
What each stage counts
| Stage | What it counts | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Opened surveys | Every time someone opens the survey page from a QR code | A repeated scan counts again, so one enthusiastic customer can add several opens. Invitation opens count once per invitation and live in the other table |
| Responses received | Surveys that were actually submitted | Respondents who open and walk away stay at the previous stage |
| Proceeded to review sites | Respondents who moved on to a review platform from the last step of the survey | Respondents who rate below the template’s Intercept negative comments if rating is below: setting are asked to describe their experience in writing, which affects how many carry on to a review site |
| Reviews received | All reviews collected for the selected locations in the period | From every source — QR codes, invitations, organic search, anything else |
When a template offers exactly one review platform, the last step skips the buttons and redirects the respondent to that platform after about 1.8 seconds.
The two tiles above the tables are derived from the same data:
| Tile | Formula |
|---|---|
| Response rate | Responses received ÷ opened surveys (invitations and QR codes together) × 100 |
| Review rate | Reviews received ÷ opened surveys × 100 |
Both compare against the immediately preceding period of the same length, shown as from previous period.
Why reviews cannot be attributed to a QR code
Review platforms do not tell anyone which review came from which link. Reviews received is therefore a context figure, not a QR result. To judge a poster, a table tent or a receipt QR, compare Proceeded to review sites against Opened surveys for that template. That ratio is entirely within Pluspoint’s knowledge.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Proceeded to review sites is far below Responses received | Respondents who rate you below the template’s threshold are asked for written details about their experience | Check the rating spread on the NPS Overview tab. Its Negative responses tile is fixed at ratings 1 to 3, which is not your template’s threshold |
| A template’s history disappeared | Deleting a survey template also deletes its responses and its recorded opens | Export the tables before deleting a template you still need history for |
| Totals differ slightly from a colleague’s screen | Buckets are built in each viewer’s browser time zone | Compare using the same grouping and a timeframe that does not straddle a boundary |
